A Royal Planting

We were very excited to have been chosen by The Tree Council to plant the tree gifted to them by the Queen’s Green Canopy organisation, which had come from the Royal ‘Tree of Trees’; thus it had spent a good summer outside Buckingham Palace, viewed by all the Royal Family, the public and national/international media. We all remember the symbolic globe that the Queen pushed which created a path of lights to the Tree of Trees before bathing it in light. The Tree Council themselves were looking for an inspirational organisation to plant their special tree – they chose us. To say we were honoured is quite an understatement.

The tree, a lime tree, arrived a couple of days before Sara (Chief Executive of The Tree Council), accompanied by Sara and Kirsty, arrived to help plant the tree. The Bridlington Mayor also arrived, as well as pupils from Burlington Pre-School, Burlington Infants and New Pasture Lane School. Together we moved the tree, made sure the hole was the right size and then put the soil back around the newly planted tree.
